In the winter of 2014, David Ingordo traveled to the snowy state of Maryland to meet a filly. He quickly contacted John Sadler about this special Curlin daughter. Following John's and David's recommendation, everyone agreed that making a place for her in the Hronis barn was a priority. Since the moment she arrived in California, John Sadler kept her close under his wing. His keen knack for patience and listening to his horses was integral in Stellar's development into a Champion equine athlete.
For Stellar, there would never be enough peppermints! The staff at John's barn cared for and loved her like their own. Cesar, Jose, Alex, and many others groomed, fed, and exercised her daily. The Hronis-Sadler family has always been in awe of Stellar's beauty, feminine attributes, and astounding athleticism.

RETIREMENT
When purchasing a racehorse- colt or filly, horse or mare- there is always the wonder if this could be "the special one". Stellar Wind certainly was and always will be the Queen of our barn as she was that special one. She took us on a ride of a lifetime as owners that was nearly as thrilling as if we were racing through the winds like the jockeys. If we could, we would have kept her as long as possible. In the end, we retired her through her purchase by Coolmore.
Our philosophy of doing right by the horses guided us to accept the reality that she had reached a point in her racing career and it was time for her to be a "mom". What an honor for Stellar Wind to now know Coolmore as her home and be covered by some of the top stallions. Her care, living environment, and day-to-day life could be no better elsewhere. As much as we continue to miss her in the barn, we know her life now as a broodmare with Coolmore is a life she so well deserves.
